Hypothyroidism Symptoms in Women - Why is Weight Loss so Hard?

Many women suffer from hypothyroidism and this brings with it many painful symptoms. One of the most common symptoms is weight gain and I've spoken to hundreds of women who have tried and failed to lose weight after being diagnosed with an underactive thyroid.

But Why Does This Occur?

Hypothyroidism causes your thyroid to malfunction. Your thyroid is responsible for the flow of thyroid hormones, known as T3 and T4, around the body. If your supply of T3 & T4 is inhibited your body will be lacking the essential hormones it needs at a cellular level to function properly.

One of the side effects of having a low thyroid function is the slowing of your metabolism. When your metabolism slows you will quickly see the weight pile on. Similarly, the inverse is true of women who have an overactive thyroid. Too much thyroid hormone will make you lose weight very quickly.

What Can I Do To Help The Weight Drop Off?

Thankfully there are steps you can take in order to help get your weight down. I'm going to look into these options below.

In your quest to speed up your metabolism you need to eat small meals more often. Doing this works well, but you must make sure your small meals are healthy, high in protein and low in fat. I would recommend you convert from the usual 3 large meals per day to between 6-8 small meals.

Change your diet. Some foods can actually harm your thyroid function and these foods must be avoided at all costs. For example foods that contain goitrogens will inhibit thyroid hormone production. This means cutting out foods like soybean, peanuts, pine nuts, millet, legumes. You should also increase you intake of foods that contain Protein as this is great for supporting the thyroid. So chicken, fish and turkey would be great choices here.

Look for a natural thyroid treatment that contains Levothyroxine, which comes in the form of thyroid powder from bovine. Plus also includes L-tyrosine, Nori and adrenal powder from bovine. These kinds of natural treatments work well with the body to quickly help you lose weight and feel better.

Having hypothyroidism symptoms doesn't mean you have to suffer. There are things you can do today to start making things better.
